Newbie here !

Ive decided to trade down from my Dicovery 3 and would like a LWB 02-04 Frontera.

I used to own a 1994 Sport and despite all the bad press it was a fantastic car for 3 years - Never ever let me down !

So - Just after some advice on what to look for when buying.

I have a budget of £5000.00 so reckon i should get a tidy low mileage Olympus Auto ?

Any pointer would be much appreciated !

Hi Parrot, you should get a good car for less than that money, most of the niggles with the DTI where ironed out on the late models then they decided to stop making them
Sit back and take your time, the right car will turn up, the DTI guys will be along soon with more techi advice

Trade down ? Surely not

As Steve (Drifty) rightly says you can have your pick of the bunch with that budget.

The only major issue with them is the fuel pumps. Kill it and you are looking at around the £1200 mark (minimum) to sort it. With your budget you can really get a nice example and have enough left in the bank if the worst happened and you killed it.

Olympus's have a nice spec and look the part, and should you wish to do so can really get into the rough stuff with less than £100's worth of modding.

There are a couple of advantages over the Disco
Better MPG
More comfortable
Quicker of the mark
And the boot floor will still be there in the morning
