V7** KCY Silver 2.2DTi Limited Previous history?

Hi,
Bit of a long shot, I recently bought a Silver 2.2 DTi Ltd - bought showing Registeration no. V7** KCY (partly obliterated for security reasons).

Through it's former life, this vehicle was previously owned and serviced in the Grimbsy/Lincs area at Wilson & co Vx dealer and originally Arthurs Vx dealer in Oswestry.

If anyone recognises this as maybe having been theirs could you get in touch as I'm trying to establish true no. of previous owners and service history. Am awaiting on info from DVLA if they'll release it. I'm checking as it's supposedly had 8-9 owners but that doesn't ring true with papers I have.

I believe it's a genuine vehicle though, just needs some tlc now sadly.

you can check the mot's on line, it will only check as far back as the new mot style,

If the vehicle has had a personalised registration number, in the past, the changes to put it on and then off used to show up as two extra keepers. I don't know if that is still the case but my classic cars suffered from this in the nineties. One was showing 10 former keepers but was actually 6.

I did the online MOT check which was useful and that's really interesting (but odd) about the poss reg change / owner increase thing. I've actually changed it onto a personal plate myself now anyway.

Once (if) I get relevant data back from DVLA and it shows this I might try disputing their recorded figure and see what they say.

Thats interesting about the ghost owners because of reg number change - could explain why mine has one or two extra - its had 3 private plates and at least one regular plate in its life. I believe I am the 4th or 5th owner of mine.

Thought I'd update on this for general interest.

I got the previous owner data from DVLA - makes interesting reading inc all recent MOT history & advisories - useful to know.

Seems like all owner changes were genuine including it being an ex-demo car originally adding 1 unnecessary owner record .

Odd one though - one of the recorded owner changes is from a guy at one given address to someone of exactly the same name at a different address! I thought maybe a mistaken address change using the wrong bits of V5, maybe a father & son of same first name (lack of family imagination), or a dodgy company liquidation evasion (transferring assets)?

I wondered if it was worth trying to write to that previous owner and ask and/or DVLA to see if they'd knock an owner record off. I guess I suspect they wouldn't. Maybe I need to get out more?
