Fuel Consumption.

Hi all. Me here asking daft questions...again.

Whilst I understand Beasty isn't working quite right (EGR fault) is 400 miles good on just shy of a full tank? I maily only use her for commuting to/from work...about 6 miles each way, depending on the site I'm assigned to, but the roads are a mixture of 30-60 mph.

Any help/advice would as always be very grateful.

I always refil at 1/4 tank to make sure I never run out. My trip usually reads 400 - 450 miles at that stage.
Sometimes even more depending on the roads etc.

I sort of clock mine...I usually put 25 litres in put the trip back to zero ,and watch the gauge and when it gets down to the top of the red again I put in another 25 litres and take a note of the mileage which is usually about 150-160 miles.
The only calculator I could find in the house has a dead battery so I cant work the mpg out.2.5's are supposed to do 28 to the gallon.
This was hard to take when I went from a 2.3 which did 35 mpg.

Careful Keith, its MPG we're measuring not kmPG

Is diesel still working out more economical for powering Fronteras with the difference in fuel costs?

With the cold weather we've been having a 6 mile run would barley warm the engine up,so it's not running at it's optimal temp,on a longer run you should find you'd get slightly more mpg.
