Arriva driver is ' the Stig of bus drivers '

Had a good laugh at this apparently the guy driving this bus in the Snow and in Teesside took his bus where the four wheel drivers - didn't or couldn't go ' the Stig of bus drivers ' :shock:

yer I was a bus driver for 17 years and did my last 7 years in head office desk job and the North East was one of our areas a while ago :lol:

I remember about 10 or 15 years ago I couldnt get a bus up a very icy snowy hill, it just kept sliding down, it was pretty safe and nothing to hit but reversing out was not an option due to the road layout.
I got all the passengers to sit over the rear wheels and rev'd the nuts off the bus, the engine heat (remember engine is at the rear) melted enough snow in a few places and I could back up a bit and take a run with all the extra weight still over the rear axles and I gained traction and got up, got a cheer to from passengers and street residents :lol:

I've always thought that Bus Drivers really do earn their money, and this guy proves it

It's definitely not an easy job on the clogged up roads where I live

I was a bus driver for a few years, only not coz of a lack of jobs. I have to be honest it's really quite scary when you notice the rear end trying to outrun the front. Never had a route that involved a hill like that. I was always amazed at how well buses do actually handle...especially when ur the LAST bus out, and rushing to get home....tyre squeal around roundabouts and the look on the faces of other drivers when you overtake them on said roundabouts. Ahhh, the memories. Priceless.
