how much is a broken B series 2.2 worth?

well here is a question ? ,how much do you reacon i shoud put my B Series up for on gumtree and that sort of site as it has a blown enging and i just havnt got the money to fix it i was thinking about £300 - £350 am i being greedy asking that or is it a realistic price.as it still has tax till end of jan and 10 months test left and i know its got a broken engine thats why im asking here.

I bought mine (2.2 RS SWB) for £400.. good nick, low mileage with a dud (noisy but not dead) engine (known about) the rebuild is up to the £266 mark so far, with another £150 in parts / fluids expected making an £800 all in for a runner with a totally overhauled block - then its MOD time, suspension / body lift, wheels etc unless SWMBO changes her plans as she said at the weekend that she "quite likes it and could see myself in it as its not as knackered as your other one" the cheek! :axe:

.. and has somehow come to some obcene idea that she's getting the car once rebuilt - over her dead body!!

I was quoted £1430 + £800 labour + £200 collection / delivery +VAT for a new / reconditioned block.. which is ridiculous! and that wasnt even Vx.. decided to have a bash at a rebuild...

Which part of the block is holed? Could be inexpensive, theres a 2.2 Omega with the X22SE block in it at A1 Scrapyard down this way.. (Wokingham) missing an exhaust Manifold which is sat in Mission Control at home.. ( :wink:

Engines - complete come in at the 200-400 mark at scrappys, or get a MOT fail Astra / Omega / Daewoo Nexia / isuzu.. or completely reblock the car.. V6 / V8 will shoehorn in nicely.. which was my other option.. MOT Emissions testing is NOT based on the age of the vehicle.. they relate to the age of the ENGINE, not the car.. and as mine has no serial number on the block - it is "of indeterminable age" and will only get smoke tested / worst case basic emissions test.. - hee hee - loophole.. keerrrcchhhiiiinnnggg!!
