Pajero Wont come out of 4WD?

Hi All
A friend of mine has got themselves a Pajero 2.5, they have put it into 4wd and now it wont come out of it..
I did ask them if they have driven the vehicle on tarmac whilst in 4wd and they have :cry:

I did tell em to get a Frontera :wink:

Any help would be great on this ..

Tell them to try reversing then see if it will go out of 4wd.

Yeah wang it back into 2wd then back up it should come out might take a few yard to get it out though :wink:

these have super select and can go from 2wd to 4wd at up to 10-15mph.

he may need to jack up one corner to release the wind-up in the transmission

We have a 2.5 paj (sorry) and they have a centre diff (mine has anyway) so that shouldn't be the problem.
What I think is happening is that on the dash is a diagram showing the car is still in 4wd when the gear selector is in 2wd. If so this is normal and will disappear after driving a few yards once the 4wd disengages.
Failing that, I'd recommend our friend tries http://www.pocuk.com

even though it has super select 4wd on the paj it can still wind the diff up if they have been driving at silly speeds in 4wd. they do sometimes take a while to come out of 4wd if its not been used for a while.. just keep putting it in and out and going backwards and forwards it will soon free off.

my mate had the same problem with his,it just fixed itself after a while,he thinks its because the 4 wheel drive side had not been used for so long,he also read that the 4 wheel drive select is run from vac pipes,so check all the vac pipes :wink:

It took a bit to learn but neither does mine now, either I got good at it or its broke :lol:

They have said that he has reversed it and it hasn't done the trick , he thinks it and I quote '' it could be transfer box but its stil driving ok atm''
