usual insurance rant

Well it looks like the fronty may be getting laid up for a little while...unless

I can find a cheaper insurance quote.

Just had the renewal quote through the letter box, and lets say I'm not impressed in the slightest.

last years insurance, fully comp with the then girlfriend as a named driver £472 plus a couple of pennies

this years...with the same broker..no claims..no points..and the ex-girlfriend becoming the wife/bosslady..£750+ a few more pounds and more pennies.. :shock:

I know that we all pay an extra £30 for uninsured drivers, but it appears they want me to pay for 100 of them..in one shot. Unless it's tree hugging sandwich eating sandal wearing freeks that got stuck in a bit of snow in their eco-freindly electric buggies that have got the hump, because us 4wheelers drove around toasty and warm buying all the fresh veg in the supermarkets while they struggled with driving up a slight incline..leaving them with the rather un eco friendly tinned stuff.

friggin truck isn't worth much more than £300 notes, maybe they've heard it won best bala frontera..so it's a show piece?..they have put estimated value of vehicle at £1200...for a 2.0 R reg, with 106,000 on the clock. :shock:

It is with Kwik fit, and i know that they are really a broker rather than an insurer. The company they've used for this renewal quote is different from last years company (can't recall which ones, at work now and left the letter on kitchen table)

so, over the next few days I'm going to be married to the phone/internet trying to get some cover that is less than the national debt of Greece.

6 days of cover left, and I'm going to enjoy at least a few of them....after that?.....who knows.

(I'd rather pay $50per month to store her in a lock up than sell/scrap her..but I aint giving an insurance company an extra 300 quid more for the pleasure of driving her for another year...screw that..)

i was with Churchill's and my trooper went from £18.70p pm(£240 inc breakdown just for car) to £51pm (with breakdown total=£680)told them to stuff it went to saga £230 for the year incl 3 months Europe cover +£ 60 breakdown cover personal for me & Mrs in any car were travelling in :drink:

I've just insured mine fully comp with a £50 excess, and all it cost was £116 for the year

BUT they only do modified vehicles.

I am with Liverpool Victoria. Cheapest by far for me. £201 a year for my 3.2. I was well happy with that. :mrgreen:

That is outrages, im only paying £500 for me and girlfriend im 27 and she is 24.

Have you tried Adrian Flux http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/ and ask for the 4x4 department, sure mine is just over £200.00, but Like Smifffy Says depends on your age and in my case :wink:

no claims on the fronty (1yr) other cars as a named driver since god was a boy...well at least '94

no points....had speeding points taken off about 12 yrs ago

guess that insurance companies just don't really like safe drivers

I was speaking to and Adrian Flux agent on northwest4x4 and he was telling me they now cover L post codes, might call them and find out :wink:

I've got mine through Chris Knott insurance. They were very helpful sorting it.

Well result, just got off the phone to Frank Pickles insurance Ive gone from £450 with current insurers to £164 all mods declared 5000 miles a year and off roading included with Frank Pickles, life is good

i changed aswell cause my renewal was about the same i went with AA an got a real good quote with roadside i used compare the market it made it easy they did it for me all i did was punch in my detials an i got a list with my requirements

Lowest I could get on the comparison sites was £360ish.

the lowest i got was £195 but i never heard of the company so i took next one up at £200

think that I (well the ball and chain ) might have sussed it....thanks to the replies this thread has produced..Domestic affairs Minister got on to it, but she's wrote it down somewhere i can't find (it's probably with my wages)

think it's with Sureterm? or I might be imagining that....around the 280 note mark, including the now bought but un-fitted 2'' body lift..fully comp. Think that the greenlane cover is a little more, will have to call in regards to that. not bad for a L postcode i think.

cheaper than the insurance on her pug 206.....and she covered herself on MY truck, but i'm covered on the piggyot..she pays hers, I pay mine.alls fair, an all that.well my fuel/tax/tyre and mod bills are higher than hers..

A green lane is only an unsurfaced highway you are legal to drive in any vehicle and insurance should noty restrict it, off road cover is another story, FP covers off road too :wink:
