fording

went fording for the first time last week, i loved it , i havent got a snorkel and my car isnt set up for fording at all which was the first mistake, for all you bedfordshire and hertfordshire lot, i went to the two river crossings in st albans ,and the batford river crossing in batford, the batford one was alot deeper than it looked and the fronty developed a misfire half way threw the river,but made it out on 3 cylinders, i think ive cleared it , as it is back running on all four! BUT; it seems real slow and drives like it hasnt got any power, any ideas!

Wet air filter could be the cause.

i did think that, so i checked it today and it seemed dry enought so i sprayed it with wd40 and also sprayed the dizzy cap and leads with it , ive got a snorkel coming for it so hopefully wont do it agen ,

any other ideas!

Dont spray the filter with WD40 mate. This is paper and needs to be kept dry.
Also your engine will suck in the WD fumes. You dont want that.
Also as for the dizzy, WD40 is an anti seizing agent, not a lubricant or a sealer.
Dry the distributor cap and leads off with a dry clean rag.

WD40 will dispurse water but we all use silicone spray to seal the dizzy n leads when we go wading.Is the air filter the standard one or a K&N panel filter.

wd is a water dispersant , so it wil dry it up and disperse any moisture, as for spraying the filter again it will dry it out!
its too late now ive already done it ,

oh now ya tell me i shud use silicone spray before fording , lol lol,

the air filter is a standard one,

Replace the air filter mate. WD will not dry it out as it does not evaporate.
