It's not about give up and die. its about been realistic ...........
Weather guilty or not, the magistrates dont like there time wasted with petty cases like this.
Trust me, I used to spend a whole lot of time in front of miserable magistrates when I was a Certificated Baliff, maybe 3 or 4 times a week. Trying to get warrants sorted for money owed which sometimes was less than the costs added onto the file.
Many a time, I have been asked, is this in the publics best interests ???? Are you aware of the time and costs involved to recover 90 pounds outstanding on a parking ticket for instance.
Fixed Penalty, non endorsable 60 pounds........
A trip to the Magistrates, like all other motoring offences can cost you dearly.
They have the powers to inpose fines upto 5000 pounds and upto 6 months in jail.
Now i'm not saying just cos you where prosecuted for allegelly not wearing a seat belt you will be found guilty, slap the biggest fine possible and make you spend 6 months with your back up against the wall, in the showers, looking for the soap in Strange Ways prison.
But the costs alone if you do lose, should you go to court will be more than the 60.00 pound FPN.
Pay it, and let it go.
If it was an endorsable offence, resulting in penalty points, possible financial implication such as increase in insurance premiums or even disqualification than that would be a different matter and worth contesting.
