Sadly I never owned a car while I was living in Pompey, so no answer there..
However, one thought does come to mind - unless it *has* to be in Portsmouth, why not try Mark for any work?? See thread here

I don't live in Portsmouth Jim but about fifteen miles outside, if I can find a reliable mechanic I don't mind travelling.
