code reader

hi guys can any one tell me whitch code reader i need for my 2.3 L redg turbo deisel as having probs starting it for about a week tryed every thing on it with no avail ,new heater plugs ,cleaned connections, earth cable , the only other thing tuo guys say is the heater plug solonoid but carnt find one yet so i am looking to buy a code reader in case this helps now or in the future

Is the eml light flashing? if not you wont need a code reader.
This will do what a code reader can do and only costs the price of a paper clip.

One thought, does the 2.3 store codes?

hi drift not sure if it does i was waiting for some one to say hay numpty it does or does not save codes as this is my first fronty ive always had range rovers or landys but saying that im more than pleased with the fronty and wont be going back

sorry drift no lights on but takes ages to start some times 3or4 goes on the heater plugs but once it starts and run its fine some one said it could be the fuel pump dont know about that one

Save your money then, it wont have a code.

Has is been serviced and had the fuel filter changed recently?

its had oil change and oil filter but no fuel filter

sorry bud pressed the wrong button on computer ill chang the fuel filter tommorow and see how it is thanks for your help
