Which diesel engine ?

i have heard that many different views on diesel engins my head hurts

.here is what i want to do 1 i want it to tow a caravan and a trailer, 2 carry my dive stuff and dogs and 3 get me to work so which diesel engine should i choose i fancy a 2.5 but i hear a lot of things about the 2.8 but who better to ask than people who own these you lot :idea:

.any advice more than welcome.and you may have had this question asked loads of time so sorry for repeating it .

2.8s pull like a train, but having said that the 2.5s are powerful, but unlike the 2.8s they have a lot of engine managment electrics

so more to go wrong :cry:

but having a 2.8 meself i'm completely biased anyway :wink:

In good order the 2.5 is better all round. But a 2.8 is easier to keep in good order and work on when not.

I'm on my third 2.8 and havent yet tried a 2.5 for myself as I like em so much.

As above, the 2.5 is more powerful and refined but its a technical fly by wire engine.

The 2.8 is solid and reliable but a bit agricultural an raw, but goes like stink and lasts for ever with regualar oil changes and parts are easy and cheap as its 95% the same as the Trooper 2.8 engine.

never driven a 2.5 so can not comment, only driven the 2.8 a few miles, and it feels solid, but being and ex 2.3 owner, now that could pull, with a few mods

hope to have my own by then A friend

been to see that one you sent me today but a few bad rust patches but dont mind paying a bit more for a little less work

ime well happy with my 2,3 but i aint drove a 2.8 and i dont want to because i know they pull well,in if i drive one i will want to buy one :roll:

but poor weave aint got no spends :cry:

Be brave like me, and get the 2.2tdi will constently keep you on your toes, and your hand in your wallet!!!!!!!!!!!

Im getting this feeling that i might end up with a 2.8 but i dont mind
