Re: Confirmation needed ...Thanks Bernie, but as I said it is a new sensor already, and it hasn't made any difference to the problem - this is why I wanted to check to see if the light should come on when disconnected, as if it should, then I think the problem is in the loom itself - hence why changing the sensor made no difference - if that makes any sense!

Re: Confirmation needed ...Ahhhhh sorry missed that one
I see your reasoning & cannot fault it How many wires & what colours have you ??

Re: Confirmation needed ...That will be.......
Black ........ reference signal out Grey ........ Nuetral White ...... Heater If you want to test the sensor, take it off car & clamp in a vice, connect a multimeter (set to 0 - 5 volts range)across black + & Grey -,heat the element with a blowlamp as the element caseing comes to red heat it should have a reading approx 1volt,now play the flame off & on the voltage reading should fluctuate accordingly. If that wiring section works the fault must be deeper in the loom
Re: Confirmation needed ...Only slightly relevant but on the 2.2 the EML come on when the Lambda sensor is unplugged.
Re: Confirmation needed ...Jay, diss the plug on the ecu n bell out the cables across each other. If no continuity across any of them then I would go for an ecu fault. Rob Fudsters off his truck n see if it makes any difference maybe. Just a thought, but its how we find shorts in my job.

Re: Confirmation needed ...That works on the assumption that the sensors etc are normally closed, unfortunately the Lambda is normally open on a cold engine therefore no continuity is correct.
Re: Confirmation needed ...But it would test the cables in the loom though Bernie

Re: Confirmation needed ...Have a look here for Lambda diagnosis: Clicky Linky
Re: Confirmation needed ...End to end indeed it would Mark,I read your post as testing across the terminals within the connector

Re: Confirmation needed ...you young whippersnappers will catch me up one day
Re: Confirmation needed ...If your Lamda sensor is reading constantly Lean, I would suggest you have a missfire, causing the sensor to see too rich a fuel mixture and constantly trying to weaken it off (which it cant do due to the missfire)
What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
