Its Concordes 40th year anniversary today

Me being bit of a Concorde fan I just had to mention that it was 40 years ago today that Concorde had its first flight.

The flight was from Bristol to Fairford in Gloucestershire, and here is a link to some BBC film footage of that first flight

We have one up here.

It was a sad day when they were grounded.
I was working at Farnborough Airshow when the french one crashed which stopped the BA one coming to the show.

Thanks to the bloody french not keeping the runway clear we have lost a gorgeous aircraft.

Now I know some of you like Concorde and Im not going to get shouted at

The Last Concorde Made

I just saw on tv an interveiw with one of the pilots, he said they used to look down as they flew over other aircraft and their veiw was of the plane flying backwards, eating its own vapour trail :shock:

can't quite get my head around this. Breaking the sound barrier is one thing.....is it because they are flying that much faster than the world is turning or what????

just so the other members know , its at East Fortune . its a very good day out . its a bit dear if you do "the concord experience" :wink:

still, theres about 5/6 hangars with all sorts of planes in them that doesnt cost anything to see.
