Re: Could This Happen Here In The UK?They're already looking into it but it isn't in force as of yet.

Re: Could This Happen Here In The UK?just a thought..would'nt the government be better off, offering us the payment to convert our vehicle to LPG?
instead of scrapping our cars?
Re: Could This Happen Here In The UK?According to a recent letter from Ford (who of course support this wholehartedly) its already a goer in France, Spain and Germany.
If you look at the way things are going, there is already a scrappage system going on.....have an accident in an older car and the insurance company will probably write it off automatically. One of Vauxhalls incentives is a minimum of £1000 for car with tax/mot, provided you agree to the vehicle being scrapped. What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: Could This Happen Here In The UK?In Ireland it was a scrappage deal, basically you get a set price off your new car, I think it was up to about 2000 Irish Punts at the time which was almost £1500STG then and a low interest repayment plan.
Of course there were catches. A: It cost the government a fortune. B: They added something called 'Vehicle Registration Tax' (VRT) to the price of new vehicles which was value dependent. C: Road Tax went through the roof. D: A lot of the old cars were ineffectually disposed off which is still causing the irish government some hassle with environmentalist lobbies. VRT increased the price of new vehicles by up to 40% in some cases, particularly larger/luxury brands thereby negating any so called savings to be had from the low interest repayments and the £1500 odd you would get for your old car.
Re: Could This Happen Here In The UK?And they call buying a brand new car every three or four years helping the environment

Re: Could This Happen Here In The UK?Yes. Roo new cars only and not ALL of them, you need to have a look on their website for "Eco-Flex" offers to see what cars have it and when as they seem to change models/offers.
What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
