Salt/Grit

Remember folks after all this snow and Ice give your cars a very good seeing to with the jetwash as the roads have not had so much salt on then in twenty years.

Keep the tin worm away.

What will the enviromental impact be?
All that salt in the drains!

i will be ok as they have not salted/gritted or snow ploughed where i live
i still have to use 4wd to do the mile to main road

when the snow has cleared i will take it to the garage in the village and go through the wash as it has a great underbody jet wash

With my experience of 30 years on salty roads, every year from october to april, i would say that dont panic. Salt is not so bad. It just makes your cars rotten. :lol:

I bought my Fronty from Germany three and a half years ago, and only thing thats changed are those "chromium" caps aroud hubs and my alloys, salt has destroyed them. And it takes saltbaths every year, 4- 6 months in the roll. :butt:

With our very damp climate the salt eats the metal like you wouldnt believe

you can also tell if a car has lived most of its life near the coast ... rotted to pieces :lol:

You must mean salty oceans? My friend in Goa, India always says that he has to wash his car almost every day. Sorry if i under estimated that salt effect of yours. My salt comes from those roads, they keep pouring salt always when its below zero degrees. Sorry again, i live in inland here, so i have no idea of living in coast line. Sorry, i quit this topic. was just pointing out over here our cars suffer from the salt and moisture we are stuck with over here, just preventive measures to save the car rusting, I think we have the rustiest cars in Europe over here

Okay Drift, i´m the one Whos wrong. Never been there in GB. My salt comes only when its going to freeze the roads, i dont have that salty air with the wind. Cheers, anyway. No Effence. (Spelld right?)

if you wanna get rid of the salt on your car i was told by a valeter to use cold water rather than hot as hot water "melts"the salt and some of it stays on the car , whereas cold water will wash the salt away .
