new exhaust needed

I hope that this is the correct section for an exhaust question.

I have just bought a B series 1998 (S) 3 door & I am very pleased with it.

The rear box is blowing and I need to replace it. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy a cheap
replacement ?

Best thing to do phone around for a price.

First look underneath your car and see how many sections it is in.
(Important, check the condition of the rest of the system!)
Ie, do you have a rear silencer and centre pipe combined, or just a rear silencer.

Then phone a motor factor, tell them the, make mod year if they are computerised they will need the reg no to look it up.
You will now have the trade price, so when phoning round the fitters you know how much mark up they are trying to add.

I am going to try all the usual suspects like kwik fit etc but wondered if anyone knew of a mail order place where I can just order one
and get a mate to fit it.

I've used buypartsbuy for a Vitara exhaust part. Dead cheap - they supplied Timax. I was able to track the order.

During my quest for a replacement it seems that pattern exhausts for the 2.2 petrol sport (SWB) are very difficult and expensive.

After being quoted anything from £150-400 for a new middle section I went to see these guys today http://uk.local.yahoo.com/entity.html?p=pipecraft&poi=Basildon%2C+Essex&wid=12031&cid=2021193940 Pipecraft in Basildon.

The guy there was very friendly and as a budget repair he cut out the old rear silencer box and fabricated the pipes to fit a different one. The whole job took an hour for him to make bespoke and cost £70.00. I cant recommend these guys enough :dance:
