Where to buy Front recovery Shackles

At a recent event run by Thames Valley 4x4, they pointed out they had concerns about the recovery points on the Vaux Bull Bar.

I would like to fit some recovery shackles, firstly where would I get a good (quality) pair, and where would you recommend fitting them.

I did see a thread that was old, with some out of date picture links, so I have a partial idea.

Ive got these on the rear ( as do a few of us )

And on the front I took out one of the bumper securing bolts on each side and drilled out the holes big enough to accept a shackle.

Thats the approach I was looking for. I'll get some from ebay, however, the recommendation was that they should be weleded onto the chassis.

What is the depth of shackle bolt that I need to be buying. i do not want to get a pair that are too small.

No need to weld them, they have been tested and are plenty strong :oops:

anyway you may need to remove the bumper one day.

Top of my head think they are about 4" deep

Remember the chassis is only 2mm thick steel box. You use a recovery shackle from 15mm diameter steel and its stronger than your car.....
