Hello again!

Afternoon all,

Did a couple if bits this weekend.
Fitted a new stereo and took the tow bar off.

What can I do about the electrical connection that was attached to the tow bar? Do I just cut it off? Is it easy to reconnect should I want to tow anything in the future?

Also tried to remove the side steps but the bolts were rusted on so sprayed them with WD40 to try and loosen them. They are really difficult to get at, is it easier to jack up the side of the fronty and get at them that way?

Shackles should be delivered monday and will order some shocks tomorrow as well. Will keep you posted with updates!

I cut my tow bar wire off then wrapped each individual wire in tape then taped the whole lot up and zip tied the wire out the way, worked ok for the last two years :wink:

The steps I took a grinder to them but the bolts do come out eventually using a wobble extension on the socket

Never thought of grinding them off which is unusual for me as i don't need much of an excuse to use dangerous power tools! Will do that next weekend along with the electrical connection.

Is the tow bar worth anything?

Its is very sturdy and well made.

Could be of use to some one, Ive got two in the shed, most frontera's seem to come with them, first thing most strip off :lol:

Just a thought,

Do I need new shocks for the front AND rear??

If your only lifting about 1 1/2" might as well keep the standard shock till you get more money :wink:

the uprated will stiffen the ride nicely .

Just looked at Procomp es3000 shocks which are a bit cheaper than the Rancho ones and its says that they will fit a lifted Fronty! So I can order them now and get going this weekend!!

Where are you buying your pro comps? just making sure its not explorer UK :wink:

They are a good shock, and cheap, Ive had mine on two years and they are going well.

Actually it is from Exlporer, is that bad?? Have they gone I look silly swearing up or something?

Yes they have gone bust, keep well away there have been some folk who have lost money.

Took the side steps and mudguards off last weekend, she is starting to look more purposeful already :mrgreen:

, I have decided i'm not going to bother with new shocks at the moment, I think that the money will be better spent on some Maxxis mud tyres.

Just one thing though, I simply could not get the front bracket holding the side steps off. Neither a socket set or spanner would fit in the gap, I think I will have to grind them off when she is on axle stands for the lift.

Going to buy a trolley jack and axle stands now!

I ground mine off and left the plate still bolted to the chassis, then when I had more energy and didnt want to hit things with a hammer I went back out and undid the bolts, need some fancy angles with the socket extensions, I found a wobble bar extension helped.
