Ooo, just remembered a Techi-Tip

:idea:

If you can't remove the split pin from the castle nuts on the top ball joint and want to undo the nut and shear off the split pin, fit a the ring of the spanner to the nut with the other end resting near the shock (which is going to be replaced) - then turn the steering wheel and let the hyraulic force do the work for you.

Do you think it is safe to drive as it is with just the one side to do? Only I can't get it to a garage without an MOT or tax it without an MOT. So I wouldn't be able to get it fixed unless Gareth manages to fix it. If I could get it to a garage to MOT then if it did pass I may be able to get the garage to complete the work??
Maybe I should just risk it and try it at MOT? Most of the work is done they may just give me an advisory??? What do you think?

You can legally drive a car that has no tax or mot to a pre arranged appointment for an mot at a garage or mot testing station and back home again afterwards, regardless of whether or not the car passes.

As long as the car is booked in for the MOT, you should be fine

O~k so now all hubby needs is another pair of hands to help him get the parts off. He is a bit unsure of how to take the auto hubs to bits...can someone either talk him through it when he does it or post a step by step guide? I think he will need some advice so he doesnt ruin my car.

I'm not strong enough to hold the spanner or to hit it with a hammer!

i think im gonna get the garage to do it as hubs isnt confident and I need the car all done otherwise I will not have a job to go to at this rate. I need it to get to work and for work purposes. Thanks again. :mrgreen:
