Stupid alternator placements

More of a rant than a techi post, as when I have a problem with the car my brain goes into overdrive, I can change the alternator no problem, but what a silly nay stupid place to fit the alternator.

You would think its the only place it could go on a 2.8 here, middling to high up in the bay.





But there is a place glaringly obvious, right at the top of the bay that Im sure an alternator could be wedged in and remove the need for a certain pulley who's bearing seizes now and then.

Try and get the oil cooler out after a body lift made me swear lots and lots.

It is a silly place to put an alternator on a 4x4 but.... Quite often pulleys are added in to get a particular rpm for a component or set of components. IE. Reducing the speed of and alternator or the fan.

An idler pulley has no effect on the driver/driven ratio`s of any components,it is most likely there to cause the belt run to miss something that would otherwise interfere with the belt/chain.
