Re: do i need itI would think that it funnels the air over the engine, without it the air flow would be diffused, possibly leading to a lack of cooling.

Re: do i need it Rad cowlingDidn't vauxhall stop fitting them ? my m reg (2.0 sport) didn't have one but there was a mod to cable tie the bottom hose away from the fan blades or cars without cowling?
found it:- as of veh. ident no. pv531871 model year 1993 the radiator cowl has been deleted and :- due to the deletion of the radiator cowl, as of my'93 there is a possibility of the radiator outlet hose chafing against the cooling fan then goes on to say cable the hose away..... and change if already damaged Last edited by davek on Tue Nov 11, 2008 7:28 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: do i need it Rad cowlingwell mine hasn't got one now you cant fit it ith the rad in but i will have to mod some thing to keep one of the hoses away from the fan blades don't thing there is much chance of them touching but s@;t happens

Re: do i need it Rad cowlingWell there ya go.... yet again common sense goes out the window with vauxhall.
Another thing it will do is protect the fan blades.
Re: do i need it Rad cowlingIt mainly improves the efficiency of the fan, as any air pulled in by the fan has to come through the radiator, thats why all manufacturers fit one of some sort.
I would mainly expect to notice it on hot days and like when off roading the engine is running faster in low gears but not travelling through the air fast. The fronty execept perhaps the 2.8 diesel is not particularly well cooled and the radiators are barely up to the job so I would fit one myself and it is handy for keeping the fingers out of the blades Mike Frontera Lwb 2.5 tds (The powerful ! one )
Re: do i need it Rad cowlingi'll see how it does rad will be out again soon any way was great way to wash the front end down no bumper no lights no rad gave the front a really good wash just the rest of the car now
