Could Tree Fungus Be The New Fuel

I know that there is a lot of discussion on this site about Veggie Fuel. Well how about this, there was an article in Tuesdays edition of the Daily Mirror about a Professor called Gary Strobel who has discovered a fungus that naturally produces a hydrocarbon fuel. The fuel has similar properties to the Diesel we put in our vehicles.

The fungus lives in the Ulmo tree which is in the South American rainforest. It can convert plant cellulose in to a biofuel.

Apparentley that means a step in the production process could be skipped, and help solve the worlds energy problems

The Professor is from Montana University and reported his findings in the journal Microbiology
