Ive got me a spare just in case :wink:

as it was really really cheap, right place right time

But as Bernie said Jim it makes a hell of a racket winding down, but always has, it pulls brilliant and no leaks or play.
I had it checked and all is fine, the guy said it looks like a replacement was fitted but dunno how he knew that it looks original to me, he is one of the diesel fitters in work at one of our depots , he knows his stuff but refuses to do foreigners on engines :evil:

Anyone recommend a turbo supplier for new units, not sure second hand is the way to go. My mechanic had a listen tonight and although he could feel no play in it, he did say the bearing sounded on its way out. So even if I find a secondhand one with no play in it, the bearing could still be shot.

Ta very much. I notice on ebay I can get a complete 3.1 troop engine for the same price as a new turbo.

Look harder you will most likely find full 2,8 engines for less to :lol:

Try not to look too hard, ends up costing me money :cry:

While your looking try popping some molislip into your oil, this may lube the turbo a bit more as it sticks to the working parts.

YIKES!! maybe I will get used after all, the cheapest new so far is £486 +vat :cry:

though Ive seen the oriental one come in at under £300

If I undo the 10mm oil supply bolt on top of the turbo with the engine ticking over and oil pees out, is this a good enough test of oil supply?
