As we all know about cracked manifolds (x22se)in following post : viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5844 Vauxhall today phoned me (from hungary)and there getout clause was out of warranty and they know of no problems. I have today filed with watchdog a complaint against vauxhall exhaust manifolds and i put it to you all with this problem to stand with me and file your complaint to watchdog hoping to get this resolved: http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_ra ... port.shtml

Here's what I submitted in the comments section of the report. I've had three 2.2 VX Fronteras with cracked exhaust manifolds in the last eighteen months. They are also prone to having the exhaust manifold mounting studs shearing off and the cylinder head gasket blowing in the same location. VX deny any known design faults but on the second and third occasion they gave me a trade discount. At another dealership an employee told me that the fault also manifests itself on other models that use the 2.2i engine.

I know in the new year Im de catting the 2.8, Ive already removed the cold start flap and fitted a spacer so it would be straight through to the box ( which may need replacing by then) I wounder if enough 2.8 owner went for it would it be cheaper than a one off ? The fitted spacer where the quick warm up flap used to live.

If a few of you get together and work out what you want, let me know. I cant knock anything off the manifolds cause ive allready done them as cheep as i can, but anything else and we'll se what we can do.

It's not just the 2.2's that suffer from cracking! 1.8's, 2.0's and the v6's all suffer from it too. That pretty much includes mk3 and mk4 astra's, vectra's even omega's. The Z20LET's and LEH's(2.0 turbo) also have a habit of spitting exhaust manifold studs out too. the weird thing is I've not heard of any cracking on the manifolds of the small-block engines (1.2,1.4,1.6 and small-block 1.8 ).
