Insulation rip-off

Decided to increase the loft insulation.
Local Council wil give 80% grant towards costs....."Great", I think.
Guy comes out to have a look...."Yes, you qualify" he says....."it'll cost you £350.00 with the grant"


Phoned B&Q......."For the amount you want, we got a sepcial offer....£220 delivered"......no contest is there?

Why can't the government/local councils see that they (& us) are being ripped off by these companies?.....half their price is a helluva saving, and not just for me but for the council themselves.

And apparantly its the same for "boiler up-grades".....thousands to you if you want a grant, hundreds if you go it alone.....nice work if you can get it

i have a friend that works for the council whenever he books any work in to be done on his building it comes out his budget they wanted £500 to fit some lighting bars to a wall 6 holes per bar . now this is a concil building and council builders that come and do the work they said a days work. me any my mate did it 2 hours some chemical fixing bolts that i had sitting around and jobs done. nice work if you can get it
