Driving in the wet

Obviously only had the Fronty for a few days now but is it just me or when it's in RWD mode it's bloody twitchy at the back. Much better in 4WD but don't want to use 4WD until I get the front CV gaiter sorted. Is it normal for them to be this twitchy?

Ive got A/Ts all round and I have to watch on cornering in the wet as the back end tends to want to overtake me. Watch when braking also.
Dont use 4 wheel drive on the road surface though, or you will wind up the driveshafts and possibly burst the transmission. Only use on soft ground.

Cheers mate. I've had RWD cars before and they were nowhere near as bad as this for the old oversteer in the wet. It's my first 4x4 though so I guess I'm going to be learning the handling for a little while yet. Just wanted to make sure it was a common thing and not just my car.
Had sort of assumed it was my fault because being a Police driver I do tend to get a bit over enthusiastic into corners occasionally but I'm use to job cars that stick like snot.

Bit worried about letting the wife loose in it now though :lol:

Shorty`s tend to be more twitchy than LWB,but are way easier to recover.

iv,e got a swb sport and yes they are a lt more twitchy in the wet , i tend to take islands very slow , the first time i went rond n island in the wet , i had to go back home and get changed :oops:

got to agree very twichy in the wet with mud tyres on isalands are much fun but harsh breaking is a bit of a brown trouser moment :shock:

The high c of g and big fat tyres don't help on wet tarmac, 2 options, go steady or just drift it!

Try a 3.2

loads a fun.

Tryes are the answer, I just swapped cheapo 31" colway at's that wore down in 12,000 miles for same size Cooper at's which aint got the same stick.
Made life very exiting as I'm used to going places at a bit of a lick in my 3.2

Pick a softer compound and they will stick, but expect them to wear.

when i first picked the fronty up it had very very worn 255 something or other on it was wet and i turned a corner and the car didn't luckly the kurb stopped it :oops:

but you can slid the back end out very easy even in the dry

Have to say I have found both my shorties to be very sure footed wet or dry, only had one twitchy moment on mud caked roads. I do like to get a wriggle on aswell.

Now if you had let me drive you down the side of the hill instead that may never had happened, where's the pics?
