re replacement engine for my frontera

Please could anyone help me Ihave an 1999 t plate frontera b which after spending to much on the engine have been adviced to get replacement the engine in the frontera is a 2.2 petrol have been told that a 3.2 petrol is a straight fit as i have been burnt financially before thought i would ask the experts for advice on the subject i live in Peterhead aberdeen and have had trouble sourcing a 2.2 petrol engine it was one off the breakers up here that suggested the 3.2 thanks for any advice Martin :cry:

The bell housing on the trany is different, also the gear ratios on in the diffs are too
you will also need the ECU, and as its the later fronty this will need the ecu programing for your existing alarm immobilizer

What wrong with your 2.2 engine?

The crankshaft appears to have gone engine is very noisy bottom end the oil light is staying on after the sensor has been replaced been told that an engine replacement is cheaper than having to take engine out and replace crankshaft

it will be the bottom end shells worn out. you can strip em out and get measured up for new ones, hat will cure the oil pressure too, as there is a groove in the shells, where the oil needs to run, to be circulated properly, and when worn, does not reach parts it should. complete strip down job, but if you cant find a cheap engine, always another option

The saga continues have tracked down an engine from a company down south for £650 delivered with 6 months warranty the mechanic that was going to fit the engine has suddenly became busy and is now charging £650 to swap the engines over .What is areasonable price to get an engine swapped im in aberdeen

shame you wernt nearer, me and me mate can get one of these engines out and back in in about 3hours now, practise makes perfect :lol:

Its not hard if you have access to an engine hoist, to have a go yourself

I know its a different vehicle, but I was charged £190 by my garage to swap engines in a hilux, which I thought was good.
