Bad Rattle Help !

hello all as the title says ive developed a bad rattle/creak/ee ee ee

dont know what it is.
It creaks relly bad when i pull of or go over a bump, if i bounce on the arch of either side i get an ee ee ee/creak sound ive cleaned all the underside and moving parts and wd40'd but no joy. On the whole it just creaks and its realy doin me head in any ideas to what the cause is .............

Ball joints, could be upper or lower.

Look to see if they have split, inject some grease in the split if they have, the noise should go away, but its only a short term fix, they will need changing sooner rather than later.

make sure you check the antiroll bar bushes too

cheers geezers i just looked at the ball joints and both sides bottom joints are split and yous reckon that, that is the cause of all my creaking ..

my knackered bottom bj's ....

new ones will make quite a bit of difference

Squezze some grease in with a syringe or pump, bet the squeek will disapeare

And what about a picture of your knuckles after trying to replace said ball joints :lol:

I know I lost a few.
Bit of advice if you change them yourself - get some freeze spray, a blow torch and a good prybar, and dont have any children arround whilst doing them (offencive language will occur)

Funny thing....I was going to put a post up regarding this as I have just started to hear a similar thing. Mine is almost like a ringing noise though, not grinding. Is it the same thing? Worse when going around a corner on full (ish) lock (This tells me it is the same thing). If so is the cure to pump more grease into the CV boots? Any particular grease? I have had a quick look at the CV boots and there doesn't seem to be any leakage.

As always I would appreciate any info.

Sounds like a shattered bearing, my inner sounded like that

Drift.....It is a very slight ringing....if I had the radio too loud I wouldn't hear it. Do you think it is just the start?

At first I thought my circlip was loose in the auto hub but it was still there after I upgraded to manual hubs and chaged the clips, then I thought it was the brake pads clip rattling slightly.
When Tim and I did the lower ball joints we discovered the problem... a disintegrated inner bearing, we fixed that and no noise :wink:

Mine developed a strange creaking a couple of weeks back, but a good dose of rain last night seems to have cured it.

Again ball joints or dry suspension bushes, when I went through water like at Corwen my creaking stopped :wink:

Im going with the suspension bushes as I did all the ball joints top and bottom and both sides a month or two back. Funny though that the creak started after I washed the car, then it was bone dry for a couple of weeks and then it rained and its all gone.

Now that i think about it it is more of a squeeking then a creaking.
