Fronty & Carlton 2.4

Of late,all my head is filled with is fronty related :lol:

My latest thoughts drifted to whether the Carlton came out in a 2.4 automatic version and if it did.....................could the box be sucessfully mated to my fronty

Any thoughts? (even if you think im nuts :wink:

Sure it happened, just remember the auto box and off roading might not suit. Dont know enough about it myself.

Would have trhought the gearing would be way out between the 2 vehicles, as for auto box off road alot of the "experts" prefer them over manual.

And getting the trandfer box to fit :wink:

Most of the import MU's seem to be auto box, but then most are diesel so gearing issues again and finding one in a scrappy.

The Auto is favourable in a number of situations... hill climbing off road, sand driving, snow driving, and driving of any delicate surface.... this is because there is no break in the power at the time to change up or down... the engine remains connected to the wheels all the time.
However on Driving the sahara 3 or years ago, there was some poor soul with a over heated auto box in the desert... that you see is there downfall, they do tend to get hot very quickly... nothing that a decent oil cooler woundn't fix though... you just gotta do transmission oil changes more often if you seriously off-road with an auto box.
