loss of power

hi there long time since last contacted you all
please can any one help me
with two problems that has happened in amatter of days
1st having trouble selecting 5 gear once car is hot ??????
2nd today all of a sudden got a total loss of power car still runs ok but just will not pick up please help

and ....have you checked the g/box oil ....
