Had a busy day today washing and polishing Braveheart. He is looking the part.
I dont think the alloys have ever been cleaned properly, so I had a go today.
They had some really bad spots of embedded brake dust that wouldn't wash off, so this is what I did, and it may help others with the same problem.
First of all spray the areas with brake and carb cleaner, allow to evaporate and wipe with a rag.
Put some soapy water in a bucket (I used fairy liquid) and soak a piece of fine wet & dry in it. Rub the contaminated areas lightly so as not to remove the protective coating and keep wiping off until clean. It worked for me, and i'll finish off with a coating off alloy finish coating for extra protection.
I'm really pleased with the results although Ive only had time to do one side. Have a look at the before and now pics and see what you think.
