2.2DTi

I have found a 2.2DTi 03 plated Olympus Fronty at a VX dealer. 40000 miles it looks to be in great condition (looks like half leather seats but no side steps or front bar and extra lights) and it is a Network Q car. Priced at £6500 is this waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much or Ok?

Do these cars suffer any stupid faults, is the diesel engine a strong one and could I run it on a Veg oil
mix?

Anyone with any comments? Is it worth trying to swap my now running sweetly 2.2 petrol A series Transglobe for it

Sorry....no Veg oil in a 2.2DTi, only decent diesel!

Yes they do suffer some niggling faults, but all are well documented on this site......and I have suffered from most of them :lol:

Dashboard - intermittently working - sometimes helped by turning side lights on!

EML coming on - vacuum pipes perishing when 4 -5 years old

Power performance with EML on under load - MAF sensor

Bad starting (regardless of temp) - leak off pipes split. (or very rarely exhaust valve seat damage/dirt)

EGR valve sticking due to dirt/carbon build up

Heated mirror switch - under rated for continuous use - remember to turn them off after 5 mins

airbag light on - bad connection under drivers seat

high temps when towing - ignore it :-)

unless well into the red

slow warm up from cold - replace thermostat

4x4 light flashes - vacuum pipes perished PS Don't use 4x4 on normal roads, only on wet fields and mud, (or snow)

Engine/gearbox mounts go soft if used for towing

The niggles where all sorted on the later models, then as they got it right, they stopped making them :roll:

All those "niggles" sound like normal Fronty niggles

Shame about the non Vegie oil,

at the current price of diesel (121.9 up here) it will be cheaper to stick to the petrol engine me thinks
