banter general discussions etc

have a look at this for me.

Postby Silver Ghost on Fri Apr 18, 2008 8:58 pm

Ok, you must be getting sick, so am i to be honest, all i want to do is drive another fronty.

just about bought 2 other, but the latest one i was going to buy, seems to be messing around with private number plate change, and when i got a quote, the number plate came up as a different car altogether. but the guy said its was the original car it came off.

so have decided on this one now, and collecting sunday. your thoughts would be appreciated before i hand over the green stuff, is it worth, the guy is going to tax if for 6 months as well, it has full years MOT, and only a small rust spot on drivers doors, about inch square,, but will need a service when i get it, as its was around 5000 miles ago last service.

have a look guys..

the ton i got off it was the car tax. so all in the add price. but i tell you what, finding a good frontera within hundred miles of me is like rocky horse poo. and i want the lwb this time, as boss loaned the green stuff, and the extra space will help all round, with me fishing gear, and work and picking my children up for a visit,

Just looked at auto trader, I used the dealer post code( I assume it is close), his truck is on the second page.
Price compares well I think for year, and it does have a lowish millage (if correct)

Have you seen/driven the car?

Gut instinct should tell you if the millage is correct.

Try and get a second pair of eyes with you when you look at it.

i called guy to days ago, got info on it, it went into auto trader this issue, it seems to be father son dealership, and father pulls the strings, spoke to father tonight, seem like a nice genuine guy in his 50s, went off and got paper on the truck, told me last service, slight rust spot, and the likes, didnt sound like he was holding back,

3 previous owners, as you say price is about right, and i would say milage about right, as the two previous trucks i looked at, one 2000 and one 19999 were between 7000 and 8000 miles. so ,ilage does not seem to be to far away.

he did say there was hydraulic noise, i asked was that from the engine, he said no, but could that be what your talking about drift.
sean
also i have not dismissed the silver truck yest, which seems to be the best one to date for the money, and i am in contact everyday with him, as DVLA sort things out.

That noise cold quite possibly be the manifold crack tapping when the engine is cold, as it heats up the manifold expands and usually the noise goes away but not always, depends on the size of the crack, it can affect performance and fuel usage.

It is hard to spot unless you take the heat shield off then it will jump out at you, you cant miss it.

Great info mate.
lest say its that, how easy to change, and any idea of rough cost. i know these can be a fault, and could go on any model i buy anyway. so the info would be helpfull,

From what I can gather its a dealer only part, unless you get a custom made part, any effort to braize them ends in it only being a temp fix .

what would the bottom end knock sound like, how would i find that, or what and where would i listen to, and would that be at start up, or when engine is warm.

Just phoned LMF, they've quoted £138 inc Vat, so not the end of the world I suppose. Will go and check mine in a mo (once it stops raining)
