fording - green laning general qustions noob!

Postby shez on Wed Mar 05, 2008 10:36 pm

been looking thru the pics on the site, and see some frontys tackling deep water, i obviouslyu know the reason for the snorcle, but, my main question is, how does the water affect the car in general, ie, electrics, water getting into the cabin area, and also do you have trouble with water washing grease from bearings etc and them running dry?

just wondering whats required before going swimming
obviously snorkle but what else?

Water in the cab... you go deep it gets wet

Rather than a snorkel, Ive done this

And mines a diesel so elextrics aint a big problem, but on any electrical item give it a good dousing of silicone spray and all should be fine.

Regual greasing of the bearings and Prop shafts are a must do if you go in mud and water.

Also check your brakes regularly

One hint is to seal hubs with silicone or instant gasket and grease them with marine grease
