Not on my Fronty, but I have another car with a hole about the size of a fag packet on the Cill. Any ideas what this would cost to have welded? Anyone still get welding done on cars or do we just scrap em now?
If anyone knows of a welder in the Essex area they can recommend, that would be great.
Cheers

Hi How long is a piece of string Without seeing it first hand its imposable to give an accurate estimate. Allthow you have an indication of how big the hole is, there maybe more rust around the area given nothing to weld to. Some times when going for a patch, it turns into a mini epic, and fitting new cills. (Both inner and outer could be rotten.) All that said, for a reasonably straightforward job, you’re looking at an hour to hour and a half. If in an ideal world the hole was rust free, then your looking at less than half an hour to do. Maybe someone local to you on the forum could sort it out for you. ![happy ](./images/smilies/eusa_dance.gif)

I hust read the post as "cost of a wedding" WELDING, right Had some done to my old CAV (couple of years back now) - sounds like similar size patches - front wheel inner arches - Bloke charged me tenner a side (£20 for both) But I don't think he will travel - might give you some idea though

Ok Thanks guys. I know it's a difficult one to answer but I was only looking for a rough figure so I can work out if the car is worth trying to save what with all the other work that needs doing. I think I can probably go to £50 for welding so I think I'll try and find a local to quote me.
Cheers

Get a quote from a garage if no local members come forwards, if it’s a little out of your pocket, offer to do the ‘prep’ work It’s a pity you’re not local, I don’t like to charge for helping someone out

Thanks, I may well do the prep work. Don't mind grinding out to good metal etc etc. I am happy to pay and would even make sure a member wasn't financially challenged by doing the work. Just don't want to pay stupid money for a car worth maybe a couple of hundred quid when it's done. Cheers
