Fronty B ground clearance

Postby sare^baw's on Sat Feb 16, 2008 10:30 pm

is it just me or does there not appear to be as much ground clearance below the B compared to the A, i was under my B fronty today and there does not seem as much clearance as the A i had, the exhaust and petrol tank seem lower making ground clearance less.

so is it suiable for offroading as standard ?

i have an underslung lpg tank and thought that would cause concern but the exhaust and fuel tank look more vunerable

Off road

Hi
I took my standard SWB RS B off road in wales with smaller 205 70 16's muds on. Lots of bash plate bashing but she made it through.

Angelina is standard (for now) and has been on some pretty rough lanes in Derbyshire and held her own at Farley Quary, I would deffo recommend steel bash plates though cos I did recieve a nice dent in my exhaust and tank guard :( I also need to find a way of relocating the towing electrics point as its a pain to replace the 12N after every offroad session, even if I remove the towbar when offroad, the 12N is too low for the depart angel and this happens

thats what i would be afraid off the exhaust and petrol tank look too vunerable to take offroading, they would be easy damaged and expensive to replace. bummer :?

just be sensible as to where you take it off road. If you dont think she will make it without damage, dont do it, but they are more capable than you think. Mine is going to Farley again on 20th April and still hasnt had any mods done yet.

The ground clearance on the B is not too dissimilar as to the A, although the arches make the body look a lot lower than it really is.
How much more lower will need peeps rushing out with tape measures.

The fuel tank is adequately protected by a think bash plate from stock, and the exhaust is high out of the way.
Your lowest point is the Diff. (also that useless shield over the prop in the mid section.

I fitted steel plates on mine, it was quite urgent as the previous owner had removed the plastic ones so she was naked apart from the front steel plate.

You van gain more height if you to a suspension lift with trooper standard coils etc, and fit bigger wheels.
