Hollymoorside Pay 'n Play 13th,14th & 15th August

Postby craigderby on Wed Jul 28, 2010 1:14 pm

There's a Pay and Play day organised at the Hollymoorside site near Chesterfield. It's been arranged through the northern-monkey-offorad club as a fund raiser towards the clubs entrants in next years Mac4x4. To get the number nice and high, and therefore to rasie as much money as possible, it's been opened up to a couple of selected clubs.

Here's a copy of the details -
As some of you may be aware both we are taking part in the Mac4x4 Challenge 2011 next year http://www.mac4x4.co.uk/ . The challenge itself is a 4 day navigational event that takes place who knows where. All proceeds for the event go to a very worthy cause of which is Macmillan Cancer Support. The event last year raised a staggering £120000 and 2011 the organisers are aiming to beat that.

In aim of reaching our MAC4x4 target we have decide to run a Pay and Play Camping weekend at a pay and play site at Holymoorside just on the outskirts of Chesterfield. The site itself is compact and challenging with plenty of water, mud, bomb holes and plenty of other challenges that will give vast amounts of entertainment.

The camping weekend will run from Friday afternoon till Sunday, on the Friday it will be an afternoon for setting up camp and possibly having a sniff round the site (and maybe a little play), Saturday and Sunday we will look at some "games" - also a good base to go and do some laning.

The campsite itself is very basic with nothing apart from open field surrounding it, but we will be having a portaloo on site, please bring everything else you are likely to need including water (beer and burgers) but bear in mind Chesterfield isn’t far away, there is a Morrison’s within a couple of miles of the site should you need anything. The campsite is suitable for both caravans and tents.

Here's a map showing the sites location
http://www.multimap.com/maps/#map=53.22 ... 53675:15||

The weekend should be a good time for a couple of clubs to get together, we have opened the weekend up to other selected clubs so attendance should be good,

With regards to the payments the cost will be £20 per vehicle for the full weekend for camping and pay and play plus the challenges, we will then run a single day fee of £15 per day so the people that can’t devote the full weekend can still come along and join in this will be for either the Saturday or Sunday.

Please be aware the main purpose of this weekend is to generate funds for a very worthy cause, but we are all there to have fun at the same time. We will only be covering our costs for the site and the toilets everything else will be donated directly to the Mac Fund, totals raised will be confirmed once the event has taken place.

DISCLAIMER: The relevant club/forum owners, event organisers and site owners will not be held responsible for ANY loss, damage, accident or personal injury caused by attending this event, this is applicable to both the attendee and all they bring along. You attend and take part entirely at your own risk !!! The event could be damaging should you decide to get carried away. All attendees are fully responsible for any passengers or spectators you bring along.

If you're interested just stick a post on here, or drop me a PM :wink:

The cost for the whole weekend including camping is £20, or for just one day it's £15

Hi Matey

Thanks for a great day out & it's been good fun, despite the getting stuck :roll: - at least we had enough opportunities to try out the recovery gear :lol: Thank you also to the Chef of the House for my lovely Bacon Sandwich :D
