Kent Green Laning Meet 21st June 2009

Postby BadBoy on Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:49 pm

Following weeks of planning we finally managed to get 3 FOG members to the South East's first FOG meet in some time
Badboy, Garethc976, and Dupe
After meeting at Maidstone services we followed a route supplied by Bobbinjohns (thank you once again) through Hollingbourne, Bicknor, and Wormshill before joining the Pilgims Way for the 11Km run to Charing where we did a couple more lanes before stopping for some much needed refreshments (note to self - must find a less busy pub next time). Then it was off to Chilham where we entered Kings wood on the North Downs before heading to our finish in Crundale.
We enjoyed some fantastic views, saw dear running in the woods, and nearly had lamb for dinner as we crossed a field full of sheep grazing.
Many of the lanes were very overgrown and we all need to give our cars a good T-cut. Apart from that the only mishaps were 2 lost side indicator lens and 1 roof rack and one grounding . All in all it was a fantastic day, and we're hoping to arrange another one very soon.

Anyway here's a small selection of pic's from the day

Followed it from pretty much from the start until we got to the Crundale area where we were ran out of time. It took a lot longer than expected due to various factors like wrong turns, and a charity walk being in progress in our start area.
Fortunately there were only 2 TRO's on it. 1 is TRO'd in the winter only, (Lawrence has been given the info to pass to GLASS and Trailwise), and part of the Pilgrims way now requires a permit and is gated, but you can apply for a permit like we did and get the code for the gate. All of them are very overgrown leaving out paint work worse for wear. Only thing I'd change for the future is making the run down the Pilgrims way a bit shorter or diverting off it more. Otherwise a great route.
Need to speak with everyone soon but I hope we can get another couple of laning days sorted in this area before the years out, and maybe a pay and play day if we can find a suitable site for non modded cars which is central for everyone.
With the comments above and PM's I had, we could have at least 8 people interested for our next day if the dates right :D
