Hi Greg, I need a brake pad wear cable as the front nearside of my 99 V6 tip has melted on ours when the caliper seized up, so I now have ABS light on and check pads message but thankfully no fault codes, also the disc is warped if you have any newish ones that would be great.

Hi Bob...Most of the B's we see have the pad wear sensors disconnected these days, I cant remember the last one I saw where they were connected. As for discs I can probably find a good pair, but I would recommend that you buy these new.

But is the knackered pad sensor not the cause the check pads warning message, also do you have a leather interior in good nick ?

If the contact is shorting out it gives the check pads message I think, so if disconnected and insulated as most are they dont flag a fault.

Yes I have a couple of nice B series leather interiors, one in black, and a half leather Olympus trim also in grey.

Cheers

I may need either a 2.5 or 2.8 gearbox. Things went a bit sideways with the Mk.I project. Still going ahead but the original plan shifted to Plan "C" regarding gearbox ideas.

All depends on whether 215 bhp will bust an untested 2.8 gearbox I bought off eblag for £25 6 years ago from a Trooper that had done the Dakar rally three times in the mid 90's :D

If it works, there is some serious history in it .. if not there will be a pile of cogs in an oily sand dune in the road

Hi Greg.

Out of curiousity can you maybe check something for me please.

I have an A series 2.2i with the 2 piece prop. Always fancied fitting a 2.8 single as with the lift the driveshaft angles are a bit extreme at full stretch.

I see on your ebay shop you have a 2.8 and a 2.5 prop for sale. Could you measure them and let me know if they are the same length please.

Definitely the 2.8 prop is shorter then the 2.2 one (total length).

Cheers bud.

Thought the 2.2 was 4 bolt flange on the transfer box, as opposed to the sliding yoke of the 2.5/2.8

The slip yokes are the same diameter and spline count.

I have a 2.8 prop but Im unsure if its from a SWB or a LWB and definitely shorter then the 2 piece. In either case its knackered as its been sitting outside for years and the slip bit is rusty and pitted and would damage the seal.

If you could help me out with the dimensions Greg it would be much appreciated as If long enough Ill have one off you. Even if its a bit short i could lengthen the prop itself.

Interesting. It may be something to do with the dimensions of the engine or its location in the engine bay. If memory serves me correctly I was under the impression all the '95 - '98 had the same gearbox.

The 2.8 had a spacer (probably about 1 1/2") between the engine and gearbox, to account for the DMF. On the Trooper the 2.8 and 3.1 had sprung clutch plates and no DMF, so no spacer. I assume that accounts for the difference.
