Annual meet 2014 Review

Postby andytats on Thu May 01, 2014 7:08 pm

Please post all your pictures and stories here.

Lisa & I left Essex at 6:22am & arrived at the camp site at 12:43pm ( that was with two toilet stops  ) not bad going the only traffic we got was on the A14 by Kettering because of roadworks. ED pulled the sleeping pod well all being only at 53mph because of the mud tyres.
Set the gazebo up then popped into town for a couple of bits. Just watched a film on t.v now waiting for dinner to cook. Then it will be :drink: :drink: time

Left home about 11:30 on the 27th on the way to the annual, pulled into the site today just after lunch. Twas a nice gentle trip up.

Fuel... Derv 140.9 & Petrol 137.9 per ltr in Bala. Derv 132.9 in Morrisons Wrexham. Might be an idea to top off before getting here if yer going to be a bit low on arrival.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

Had a great weekend. Chilled out Saturday with a few drinks at night then spent most of Sunday at Bala offroad centre.
Big thanks to Bobby for sorting most of the annual out for us all to enjoy, Rob for keeping us well fed and every body else for making FOG the great group it is.

Thanks for sorting out a cracking weekend Bobby, much appreciated.

The drive home was an event... The coolant hose just below the turbo developed a pinhole leak just as we drove out of Balla that resulted in some rednecking repairs (tape) and the sat nav got itself directionaly challanged  We finally got home at 17:30...

Le Wilberfool and Cheeky Chick made it back alright too.... about 1800 after getting the dogs and ice cream. We popped in on Sir Doris on the way back.

It's been a cracking weekend too, we've both thoroughly enjoyed it. Big thanks to Bobby, Ste, Rob & Audra for organising the fun and manning the BBQ.
Saturday's laning was epic, having never done the wayfarer or whitestones before. I'll have to come back up and do more Welsh lanes in future I think. I've got a couple of pictures to throw up later on. Absolute blast on Saturday night to catch up with everyone (we might have got a bit loud though, sorry Bobby) and meet some new faces.

Thanks all for being the bunch of nutters that you are.

We got back ok in the end, big thanks to Gregster for following me into the services and re-charging my battery.. The aux belt tensioner decided to die and I lost the aux belt some where on the M1. So lost all charging and power steering which wasn't that noticable on the motorway however when I got to normal roads it was pretty tough.

Was a brilliant meet and we had a great time. Thanks again to ste, bobby & audra etc for organising it.

Hi,

Marion and myself arrived securely at home 45min ago. No technical probs at all - but haven't looked under the bonnet yet...

Thanks to Audra, Rob, Bobby and Ste for putting so much work in preperations to make this wonderful weekend possible for all of us!
Seeing you once a year and feeling being a part of the family is worth the trip, a very pleasant laning with good and nice mates you can rely on is the cream on the cake then!

A bit tired now - pics have to follow the next days...

Hope you all get back home safely, too - resp good to hear of all having arrived healthy home yet.
Kind regards,
Ian

Cracking weekend, big thanks to bobster for sorting it, rob and audra for many a splendid barbeque, dwifty for leading our laning group and opening gates and the guided tour of snowdonia, Andy for putting up my tent, and everyone else who made it a cracker by participating.
Wales is a lovely place, although the language and place names are a bit screwy, and there are zillions of sheep, some partially peeled to.
Lanes are stunning, and it was such a shame to see the mess on the wayfarer caused by the tossers who sadly share our hobby to some degree, who simply ruin it for everyone.
Great to see new faces, and to be reunited with the old ones,

Quotes of the weekend...

Dwifty....Stick Corwen in your sat nav greg as I can remember if its left or right...
Gregster....How many "L"s does Corwen start with Ste?

Dwifty, Jellbaby and son of Jellybaby and me staking out Hipo's abandoned and freshly decorated truck...but we couldnt get hold of Dan on his Mob..
Quote of the century from the Jellymeister...." Gregster, your best bet is to try calling Andytats, his phone is guaranteed to be turned on as one of his kids is always pregnant!!"

and so so many more laffs...

Finally home unloaded and sorted, had to move the boat on my drive so I can get digger in tommorow, but rolled up here about 7pmish...
Glad everyone made it home, I filled Mr Squeaks battery with some 2.8 power, so it should run cooler now!!!

Thanks again everyone who came and made this a blinding meet...I really enjoyed it.
Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon!

Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again...
She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body...
Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer!
