Andy,

Did you see on the name list that we've had to drop out due to my work commitments. I'm gutted, but the money is whats needed at the moment, so I have to go with that option.

Mrs H wants to come and put names to faces. Mostly yours but a few others as well. I said I would run her up on the Monday Morning, before you all leave.

She said that it would have to be very early, and I said 'Its fine, we know how slow the AA are for recovery round here' :D :D   :D :D
For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable but in the end is right
I hope you have the time of your life

I was thinking might be easier if I took everything in a trailer to save having things rattling about in the boot during the day, is anyone else bringing one?

If I can get hold of one for a reasonable price (TRANSLATION : CHEAP), I'll be towing a transport trailer...with my Chugga on it.

Also being an off road newbie I don't have body lift/big wheels etc, so will I be all right with AT's and recovery points?

My Chugga is bog standard other than tyres. She does great off road. If I can't take her down, I'll just be coming in Beasty, who has a 3" lift and M/T's on. Should be mega fun though regardless.

Well I don't have any on either of mine yet, and when Chugga has been stuck she's had a few good hard tugs and the standard tow eyes have performed well. Not that I'm saying recovery points aren't a good idea. You can never be too sure. I've seen a welded recovery point snap clean off a Suzuki SJ.

fair point i'll have them on as a 'just in case' also just been thinking about straps/strops, I see some people have them on while playing I take this means recovery is easier when in water etc? would something like this do?

Yeah m8. Will be fine. I have a 3 ton one which I put on the front. Never let me down. I also have a "Kinetic Rope" which allows you to be YANKED out of a sticky situation. I have also just got myself a 5 ton strap, so I think I'll be using that instead of the 3 ton.

James you shouldn't be using a kinetic rope for towing.

Stretch, If the off road site is "dry" you should get around the main parts on ATs as long as you don't get hung up due to lack of ground clearance. Some of the ruts are a little deep for 29inch tyres (32 inch muds struggle in places) therefore you diff might ground out. I'd suggest your recovery points are beyond doubt as snatch recovery will put extreme strain on them, should one fail during a snatch the lose end of the rope together with the shackle and failed recovery point it a bit of a catastrophy going critical.

I'll just make sure I'm out of the county when it happens!!!!!!!!

PS stay out of the wet bits or you will get stuck....
