Hi guys
Well i posted at around 9.31pm and it was at 41 percent then and it is now 10.13pm and still on 41 percent...Does it all depend on the processor type and speed??

I made back up discs taking about 40 mins, but it auto backs up to one of my external hard drives, stopped that now as it was taking to much space, anything important I back up manually and its a lot quicker and a heck of a lot less space

Agreed.

There are lots of free utilities that will backup your data, this being one of them http://www.fbackup.com/ . It will also compress your data if required.

With regard to W7's backup utility , this may be worth a read. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/For ... a1852051fb

If its stuck at 41% for anything over 20 mins you may as well give up because its not gonna work.

The external DVD/RW drive works fine so guess its not that causing it to be that slow.....Just out of curiosity does the CPU type and speed make a difference to how quick it does things like back-ups??

I gave up on the Back-up in the end as it didn't move from 41 percent last night
