Mapping software for BlackBerry

Mapping software for BlackBerry

Postby BoxCleva on Wed Oct 27, 2010 7:29 pm

Hi Folks,
I have a nice shiny new BlackBerry Torch with inbuilt GPS. I've done a quick Google but can't really find any software like Memory Map for the BB.

Can anyone suggest some mapping software for BB's ?

Hi Si. I have just got the same phone. Great, innit? Anyhoo... Mine has a maps app built in. It has a function on it which allows route planning. Unfortunately it doesn't have voice prompts or a "turn - by - turn" function, but I tested it today on the way to work, and it worked fine. The biggest downside is you have to keep looking at the map to check you're still on the planned route.

Also try "Ultimate Maps" on the Apps store. I think it's £3.99.

Yes mate, mucho impressed with it!

No, what I mean bud is mapping software with greenlanes on it. It doesn't go into the detail that something like Memory Map does.

Got one for the iPhone called 'UK MAP' You get full UK 1:250k, and can download more detailed ones for free with Wi-Fi. Unfortunately not proper OS ones at 1:50k YET... OS haven't released them for free so far. There's another one for iPhone called iOSMaps that'll give you the much needed 1:50k for byways, but has to download the area you're looking at each time you go on. Obviously there are on my iPhone, so don't know if the BB app store will have the same, but its worth a look.
