XP validation

XP validation

Postby Drift on Fri Mar 13, 2009 11:03 pm

Right, Kieron, my stepson foolishly took his laptop that was preloaded from the shop with XP ( PC World, no discs with it ) to his brain dead fathers and for some unknown reason he formatted the HD and reloaded a dodgy copy of windows XP back on it ( he denies it , but is cruising for a poke in the eye) and know the copy isnt validated and the updates dont install and its asking to get a new copy all the time, I have the code from the sticker under the laptop but when I go to validate it the program wont give me the option to put the code in, it just asks for £96 to validate it

Linux and the like isnt an option as we want him having windows as thats what he is using in school.

How can I get this validated, or am I going to have to reformat the HD with a new instal, with a friendly copy of XP

Drift, have a word with the shop you got it from,I think that there is a separate partition on the hard drive that stores a lot of the original install info. They may even have a recovery disc
