laptop screen

i picked this laptop up cheap because it would not boot up (easy fix)

but anyone got any idea what's going on with the screen its not cracked as i can see i have moved the taskbar to the side so i can still use it

have you tried updating the drivers for it.

Looks to me like it's in 4:3 mode rather than widescreen.
Have a look under control panel>display for settings check the resolution hasn't been changed to a customer setting too

greg i had thought about bunging something over that bit of the screen as its annoying when it starts flickering

H-sync looks to be gone. Do you have a monitor ou can plug in to check the graphics card?

it works fine on a monitor both vga and hdmi

or if u had it open and card out testing did u make sure the scroll pad ribbon was not pulled out - could always check on device manager

n yeah i agree as above that lcd screen looks a bit burnt out around the edges but still shudnt stop a mouse pointer

no problem with the mouse just the right hand side of the screen is missing

Try changing the screen resolution to see if it goes away. If not, try downloading a Live Linux CD (like Ubuntu) and boot off the CD to see if it's a driver issue.

Or you could drop it down the stairs and claim a new one on the house insurance Well thats what some people do apparently

i think its going to be a new screen it does the same on boot so i'm thinking screen or ribbon but i will try ubuntu Jay
