It isn't the MoT I would worry about .. it is the DVSA.
I would say that you have to ensure it is properly secure with steel straps or bolted. Ratchet straps will get loose over time and stretch etc. Also the risk of the ratchet popping open. All the MOT test will be looking for is leaks and if the tank is securely mounted.
Now the DVSA will be a lot different. They will be looking at the system in case of accident, people dropping stuff into the bed, the fuel lines protected etc etc. I think you will find that you will have to ensure the tank is firewalled (i.e. protected within a steel box, hoses need to be braided and correct fittings etc. I would even say that the tank would have to be a steel one to protect it from being punctured so the OEM plastic one is out of the question There is talk that MSA regulations are the ones to follow.
If you just ratchet strap the tank in the bed and jubilee clip flexible hose then you will get slapped.
Personally I don't see why you would want to do it. It is possible, but the hassle isn't worth it.
