Check the waterI've heard of this beofre, but as these incidents are recent, I thought it worth bringing to your attention.
Both of the following are from the Nottinghamshire area, the first on July 11th 2011, the second on August 26th 2011 Photos used with generic permission. The above incidents have been reported to the Police, RSPCA, Glass, TRF and the Ramblers Association Lawrence

Re: Check the watersome sad individuals out there
Re: Check the waterB*stds, not withstanding the damage to the tyres just think of the damage they would do to a horse if one stood on it.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck. Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'Truck' Comments on 'Truck' the truck may be left here Owning a 2.8 is a hobby in it's self...
Re: Check the water
I believe it to be a lane called "Eakring rd" This is the provided link to a map off the GLASS forum: Map Lawrence
Re: Check the waterthanls for the heads up if we go over that way have to keep an eye out for the blasted feckers, thing is that isnt just going to affect us but the walkers and the horses that use that site.
i bet 10 to 1 it is the posh house at the end of the road fed up of seeing every thing trundling past his house and lowering the tone in his opinion.
Re: Check the waterDean its best not throw accusations around like that, you could cause problems until we can prove who did it,
There was a case of this a few years ago, I think it was on the Viking Way when it was open, someone had put blocks with nails in under the water but also hung the same from tree branches to maim horse riders. Ste

Re: Check the waterI Know Eakring road,
runs into Deerdale lane up to the A614 Rufford Road. Eakring Road has been problamatic for quite some years. The main problem has always been illegal off roading by idiots into Sherwood forest and surrounding area. The sandpit (We called it the Desert) along the road had always been used by off roaders (mainly trials bikes) and not to many people were that concerned as it was out off the way and on the whole those that used it behaved there selfs, but then word got around and people from outside the area started to come in and instead of staying in the Desert they began to go into Sherwood forest on the bikes and in the 4x4's and do stupid things up and down the lane. I think there may have been a couple of quite serious accidents there as well. Not sure if the desert is still accessable, but I know one end of Eakring road was bloked off at one time to stop them all going down there, not sure if its still the same cause I haven't been back there for some years. It was also a very popular place for abandoning cars and setting fire to them, I have some picks some where I'll see if I can find them. Gaz

Re: Check the water
That's bang out of order John Boy, really sorry to hear that. Found a 30' length of barbed wire accross the corwen carwash yesterday, not sure if this had just been washed out of position though. We managed to remove it and lay it on the bank out of the way. Still 2 pieces either side to stop you from driving up and down the ford (but not that this bothers me though). Someone mention laning? Just tell me when and where!
Re: Check the waterThat will have broken off, they usually have it as you say to stop numptys running up and down the river, they are quite tolerant at that ford but things have been getting out of hand recently.
We had a meeting at the weekend and this was brought up and evidence is being collated. Ste

Re: Check the waterHave had problems myself on three occasions here with one angler in particular. As an angler myself I found it difficult to swallow his BS, it wasn't as though we plunged straight in while he was fishing there. On all occasions, neither were we acting recklessly, crossing the ford with a minimum of fuss and spray.
Someone mention laning? Just tell me when and where!
Re: Check the waterEven the environment agengy condone the use of the ford, they have a notice up asking you to use it responsibly, so know one can question your use, did you ask for the anglers licence
