I agree totally with the idea, the more knobheads that go off-piste the less chance we have of preserving the very few lanes we have left.

Another item was broadcast yesterday on BBC concerning off-roaders titled "Off-roaders damaging ancient woodland in Somerset".

Most of the damage I see being done is by MotoX bikes with no number plates on them. It's a bit difficult to report a bike with no plate on it :roll:

4x4's have always been , and will always be easy targets.

Don't disagree, but me thinks that motoring groups should get together and start campaining for Horse Riders and Cyclists to be banned from the roads until compulsery insurance, registration (incl road fund licence fee) and training with the requirement to prove competence (licence & test) is brought in. Theres plenty of byeways, cycle paths, bridleways etc that the motorist (4x4) has been forced off so theres places they can play in peace meantime.

Point of interest, why do they seem to think it's acceptable if a horse leaves 'presents' in the road which arent cleaned up by the animals owner yet if its from a dog...... (theres some horses kept in a field just round the corner from us, the owners excercise them down residential streets yet completly fail to clean up, not nice).

As for cyclists.... well dodgey, a lot round here seem to think they own the roads and ride appropriatly. Go straight thru red lights (they whinge like ***** when the oncoming traffic nearly takes them out too :lol:

), ride on pavements, weave all over the road etc.

i am from the local area around garbon (windermere) and i use the lanes and have met many of the farmers through my grandfather who was a land agent in the local area and most of them do not mind 4x4 users on there permited tracks it is just when people are daft and go of the beaten track! as for the natinal park rangers the majorty of there staff couldnt give a f**k it is just the minority of them who think all lanes and tracks should be reserved for them walkin about and complaing about everyone else who is having fun
