Suffolk 4x4 Show & Autojumble

Postby DEANO3528 on Fri Nov 19, 2010 9:03 pm

Hi there,

Now I know it's rather early to be thinking about next summer's events but SLROC have firmed up our calendar already for 2011!

One thing I do need to let you know about in plenty of time is that we have been asked to run the offroad elements of the Suffolk 4x4 Show & Autojumble again on the weekend of 14th & 15th May next year.
There are two courses available over the weekend as per last year, both of which have LANTRA certification. The offroad course is technical and will keep you interested while the green lane experience runs for 2 miles around the park amongst woodland which used to be the bomb dump for the airfield during WW2.
If we can get the clubs there that would be brilliant, no matter what marque or model of 4x4 you prefer. Hopefully we can get a really good cross section of owners all showing off their vehicles and supporting their clubs. To that end I have to apologise if it seems like I am spamming every forum in site, it's just I'd really like to see this event take off, as Suffolk tends to be left out a bit when it comes to such events. Also if you know of any other clubs or traders who might like a presence, please let them know about this event.
Rougham Airfield is a great venue, just outside Bury St Edmunds and right beside the A14, so easy to get to. Plenty of camping space and club stand space as well.
Hopefully clubs will be hearing from the Rougham Office early in the new year.

Webpage is online here

SLROC are not organisers nor do we share in any of the profits that might be made, we just want to see a local event take off. That and the fact that for those who do not wish to take their 4x4 offroad, SLROC are running the charity rides again, where you can jump in one of our Land Rovers and be driven around either course instead: At last year's event we made £1270 for local charities including the EACH Treehouse Appeal!

Cheers

So is this open to the public? I've not got a 4x4 anymore (might be rectifiying that this year though :D ) but the brother-in-law bought a Disco at Christmas and he lives near there, so gonna talk him into going and taking me with lol. Can we just rock up and pay on the gate?

Hi guys,

Good to see a bit of interest on this thread.
Yes you can pay on the day and weekend ticket includes camping which makes for a really cheap weekend.
Off road and Green Lane experience courses are a tenner the pair as many times as you like.

Arena activities still to be finalised but there will be a seesaw challenge on Saturday Afternoon and a Twist-off Challenge on the Sunday Afternoon.
Bar and live bands on Friday and Saturday nights for campers plus Thetford Forest just 20 minutes away for a nice gentle laning evening.

Club stands get 6 free vehicle and 12 personnel passes as part of the deal.

We just did the press launch and the courses are in great shape so we're now really looking forward to a great event.

Just up the road from me so I'll be there. Recently had a day round Thetford forest with Ratcav, Fudge, Fogman, Hipo and Rob and had a great time so maybe they'll come along as well. There are loads of lanes through the forest so well worth going for an evening bimble deer hunting.

Sorry guys, bit on the drag as lots going on - not just 4x4 show stuff either!

Now then, the good news is that clubs get 6 free vehicle passes and 12 personnel passes for free!
Any extra's are charged at the normal weekend rate (I believe but it's worth checking with the estate office first), which is still a very reasonable £14 on the day or £10 I think, pre-booked: This includes camping for Friday and Saturday nights with bar and live music both nights. Offroad course is a seperate fee of £10 but that's for all day on both courses as much as you like. I think the only stipulation for a club stand is just that - you provide an exhibition of your club and it's members/vehicles. I'm sure you know how it works.
A change to our plans means that the seesaw will be available on both show afternoons, so there are now two chances to enter the Seesaw Challenge or Twist-Off. In fact I was helping the guy who built the seesaw on Sunday to modify it for the twist-off.

If you would like a spot in the arena to show your vehicles off, just mention it when booking with Gary at the Estate office.

See you there.

Do we need to book tickets or are we going to be able to win one of the 6 freebies?, the latter would be the prefered answer.

Hi mate, so if there was 6 of us going each taking a car how would this be booked online? how do we obtain the free passes etc.

FOGGERS I don't mind helping organising this if there's going to be a few of us. So put your name down if you want to go on Saturday 14th.
